Duties & Responsibilities

Taking full responsibility of a class as a class master/mistress
Taking responsibility of a duty master/mistress in turns.
Marking a class registers and take appropriate action on absentees.
Attend staff meetings and contribute effectively to improve on issues tackled.
Teaching at least 22 lessons in a week
Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans
Preparing teaching aids
Marking and correcting children’s work.
Assessing children in a subject at least in a fortnight.
Give remedial teaching to slow learners.
Teach at least one English composition or Kiswahili Insha from grade 4-8 in a week.
Prepare mark list and enter end term examination marks in each child’s report card
Being accountable to examination results of candidates in the subjects, he/she teaches.

Professional Attributes:

Must be a registered refugee with UNHCR and resident of Kakuma Refugee Camp.
Minimum academic qualification: KCSE C+ and C+ in the two teaching subjects. A Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Secondary Education or equivalent foreign qualification is an added advantage.
Training in Special Needs Education is an added advantage.
Must communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili (spoken and written).
High level of integrity, commitment, and professional responsibility.
ICT skills will be an added advantage.
