Job Description

Lutheran World Federation/Department of World Service Kenya Program is seeking to recruit incentives staff for the untrained primary teacher position in Kalobeyei Settlement schools:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Taking full responsibility of a class as a class master/mistress
  • Taking responsibility of a duty master/mistress in turns.
  • Marking a class registers and take appropriate action on absentees.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute effectively to improve on issues tackled.
  • Teaching at least 22 lessons in a week
  • Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans
  • Preparing teaching aids
  • Marking and correcting children’s work.
  • Assessing children in a subject at least in a fortnight.
  • Give remedial teaching to slow learners.
  • Teach at least one English composition or Kiswahili Insha from grade 4-8 in a week.
  • Prepare mark list and enter end term examination marks in each child’s report card
  • Being accountable to examination results of candidates in the subjects, he/she teaches.

Professional Attributes:

  • Must be a refugees registered with UNHCR.
  • Must be a resident of Kalobeyei Settlement.
  • Must have Education qualification of KCSE and above with a maximum grade of C- for males & D+ for females and people with disability.
  • Special needs education training or any other training in education will be added advantage
  • MUST communicate and write in both ENGLISH and KISWAHILI
  • High level of integrity, commitment, and professional responsibility
  • Knowledge of ICT will be an added advantage.
